It’s been over a month since we started the New Year and I have tried my best to keep up with my “commitments”. It has not been easy.
My health goal was to lose 25lbs by the end of the year through healthier eating and exercise and I am happy to report that I have been going out for walks almost everyday. Jay has been a great support, since work has been a lot lately and I am always super tired at the end of the day. Jay helps me push through and go for the walk, he even comes with me. I usually agree to a “short” walk, but most days I get a rush of energy a few minutes after we start and end up walking much more, and I always feel much better for doing it! I have not started jogging yet, but I can see that happening in the next few weeks.
The eating healthy part has not been going as well. As I expected, this has been the difficult part. I have improved though, mainly eating fruits for breakfast and preparing my lunch the night before. But it all falls apart in the evenings and on weekends. I’m working on it. Any advice?
The journaling is going great! I have gotten to a routine where I write a few lines reflecting on the day every night. The only issue I have is that I feel my writing is very surface, but the whole 3 sentence thing (or 5 lines in my case) doesn’t really lend itself for depth. But I’m ok working on building the habit for now and then worry about the quality of the writing.
Finally, the most exciting part is that I was able to connect with a nonprofit organization called the Sacred Valley Project to support them with different organizational needs. They help girls from remote rural areas in Peru attend secondary school by providing housing during the week. Because their villages don’t have secondary schools, these girls would otherwise end their education after elementary school. They normally also receive after school tutoring, but with the pandemic hitting Peru so hard and schools being closed, these houses have become full-on education centers. I feel so lucky to be able to support them!
Keep up your good work in walking and eating better soon you will get to your goal. I need to start doing my walking
