End of 2021 Final Update!

So 2021 is over and here’s how I finished the year. Goal #1 – Financial – This year we wanted to increase our Net Worth by 10% and with the market being as friendly as it has been (even with the doldrums at the end of the year), we’re up a CRAZY 39.7% for the year! Utterly crazy and I’m super glad it happened. Goal #1 – Exceeded! Goal #2 – Health – I have lost a little bit of weight, but my pants are looser and my belts are way too big. But I was able to smash my desired biking record of 50 miles. I finished in October…

Jay’s Shocking Update

So, wow. I guess I did it. I accomplished one of my goals. On Saturday, August 28, 2021, I biked 51.4 miles in a row. It was not pleasant; not bad, really.. But, I did it!! Thank’s for the extra updated coins, Heath! This trip took us out past Beltway 8 and Grand Parkway 99. Just a really long morning! So that’s one goal completed! I’m really pumped about that!

Jay’s August Update

So happy birthday to me! This month I’ve gotten a little older and hopefully a littler wiser. Lets check the progress towards the goals I sat at the beginning of the year. Goal #1 – Financial – This year we wanted to increase our Net Worth by 10% and with the market being as friendly as it has been, we’re up a CRAZY 32.6% for the year! That’s insane and something that will probably never happen again in our lifetimes; I’m glad we were in the market when that happened! Goal #1 – Exceeded! Goal #2 – Health – I have not lost any weight, but I am told I’m…

Jay’s Update – Early May Edition

OK; so lets check in and see how we’re doing. Well, the past few weeks have been pretty crazy. My company got acquired and so I’ve been working tons of extra hours on the integration.. Don’t get me started! The end result is that I haven’t spent nearly enough time or effort on my goals for 2021. But I still have been pushing as much as I can. Lets tally and see where we are! Goal #1 – Financial – We’ve both maxed out our IRA’s for the year, contributed to our various other retirement accounts, and we’ve invested into our taxable brokerage accounts. There’s been some ups and downs,…

Jay’s Update – March Edition

So, what has happened since my last update? Not as much as I’d hope, but I made good progress on my goals for this year. Lets go through the goals one by one. Goal #1: Health – This hasn’t been as good as I’d like; but remember that my goal was to lose inches, not really pounds. Muscle, being more dense than fat, has helped. I’m down a little, but not really much to write home about. The good news is that the gym, we go to has reopened and we’re starting to go twice a week to ease back into it. Goal #1 – On Track! Goal #2: Bike…

Jay’s Goals 2021 Update

Well the last week was pretty interesting. I wasn’t able to ride my bike because of SNOWpocalypse HOU. We spend most of the week with no power or water. I did read another book: The Power of Noticing by Max Bazerman. Interesting book about looking outside of your normal channels to see things that other people miss.

Also, I haven’t even started to do the yoga yet. It’s been a little stressful and I could probably use it a great deal. It’s on my list, though.

As far as Spanish language, I am working on it. It’s very challenging, but I’m working through it. Study languages when you’re younger, it’s WAY easier, kids!

Recovered from COVID-19!?

Recuperados de COVID-19! Our experience with the virus was scary and very different for both of us. How did a pulse oximeter help us stay calm and avoid rushing to the ER? Now that we have recovered, we decided to participate in the Houston Methodist COVID-19 Convalescent Plasma Donation Program.
